How we research and check our guides

People in Liverpool use our guides to plan real things, like when to put the bins out or which day to take the kids skating. So getting it right matters more to us than getting it out first.

Where our facts come from

We go to the source. For council services that means the council's own website and announcements. For events it means the venue or the organiser. We don't copy facts from other listings sites or news round-ups, because that's how mistakes spread.

Our newer guides list their sources at the bottom, with the date we looked at each one, so you can check anything yourself.

How a guide gets checked

  • Before a guide goes up, we try to check every date, price, time and address against its source.
  • If we can't confirm something, we leave it out or say plainly that it hasn't been announced yet. We'd rather tell you "we don't know yet" than guess.

How and when we use AI

We use AI tools to help us get our research and guides out faster, and to make them as good as we can. They help us search for sources, gather some of the information we need, suggest wording that makes a guide easier to follow, and put the information onto the pages.

These tools don't decide what's true. A person decides what each guide should cover, checks the facts against the original source before it's published, and has the final say on what goes on the page. If a tool gets something wrong, it's our job to catch it.

Keeping guides up to date

Our newer guides show the date they were last checked. We only change that date when someone has actually gone back, checked it again and made genuine updates. We never move it forward just to make a page look fresh.

When we change a fact on a page, we update it there and then. For bigger changes, such as new dates being announced, we say on the page what's changed.

Our older guides

Some of our guides were written before we worked this way. We're going back through them and bringing them up to the same standard. Until then, it's worth double-checking times and prices with the venue before you set off.

Independence

We're independent. We're not part of Liverpool City Council or any venue or organiser we write about, and nobody gets to check or approve a guide before we publish it.
