Privacy Policy
The short version: if you subscribe we hold your email address so we can send you the newsletter. We don't track you, we don't use cookies for advertising, and we don't sell anything to anyone.
Who we are
Liverpool & Beyond is a Liverpool city guide and weekly newsletter. For data protection purposes we are the data controller. If you want to reach us about anything on this page, use the contact address in the footer.
What we collect
If you subscribe to the newsletter
We collect the email address you give us, and the date you subscribed. That's it — we don't ask for your name, and we don't require anything else.
We also record how you found us — the campaign tags in the link you arrived through, and the site that referred you. It tells us which of our efforts actually work. It's attached to your subscription and nothing else, and we don't store anything on your device to do it.
We use it on the lawful basis of consent: you asked us to send you a newsletter, so we send you a newsletter. You can withdraw that consent at any time using the unsubscribe link in every email, and we act on it immediately.
If you just read the site
We don't run analytics, advertising trackers or third-party cookies. We don't build a profile of you and we don't know who you are.
Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs — including IP addresses — for security and to keep the service running. These are ordinary technical records, not something we analyse.
Cookies
We don't set any advertising or analytics cookies. That's why you haven't seen a cookie banner: we don't need your consent for something we don't do.
Who we share it with
Your email address is stored with Beehiiv, our newsletter provider, who process it on our behalf solely to deliver the newsletter. We do not sell, rent or share your data with anyone else, for any purpose.
Beehiiv is based in the United States, so your email address is stored outside the UK. They provide the safeguards required for that transfer under UK data protection law.
Nothing else on this site loads from a third party. Fonts and images are served from our own domain, so simply reading a page doesn't announce you to anyone. When you follow a link to a venue you leave our site, and their own privacy policy applies from that point.
How long we keep it
We keep your email address until you unsubscribe, after which it's removed from our active list. We may retain a minimal record of the unsubscribe itself so we don't accidentally email you again.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- ask what data we hold about you
- have it corrected if it's wrong
- have it deleted
- object to how we use it, or ask us to restrict that use
- receive a copy in a portable format
- withdraw consent at any time
Ask and we'll act on it. You also have the right to complain to theInformation Commissioner's Office, the UK's data protection regulator.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS only, with a strict content security policy. We don't store your data on this website — it lives with our newsletter provider, and we hold no database of our own.
Children
This site is intended for a general audience and isn't directed at children. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.
Changes
If we change how we handle data — adding analytics, for example — we'll update this page and change the date at the top.
